CMPS SCORE Officers

Who are we? On this page, you'll find the bios of all of our student officers and committee chairs.  Our officers come from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds as well as from a wide range of CMPS majors.

Bianca is a senior Computer Science and Math major.  She is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers.  This summer she completed research at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.  She is currently doing research in the Cognitive Motor Neuroscience Lab in the Kinesiology Department at the University of Maryland.  In her spare time she enjoys writing poetry and jogging.  She hopes everyone will be able to benefit from the opportunities that SCORE can provide.

Julian is currently a senior studying Mathematics and  Economics. He plans on applying for graduate school in Economics for the Fall 08 semester. He will be doing research this year in Computational Mathematics with Economic Principles. He is also very interested in Finance and held internships at Rydex Investments and JP Morgan & Chase. He is originally from Boston and loves the Patriots and the Red Sox.

Whitney is a sophomore computer science major, and QUEST Honors Fellow sParticipant.  Over the summer Whitney has worked as S.T.A.N.D's office assistant and an advanced algebra mentor and resident assistant for the Summer Bridge Program for Scientist and Engineers.

Noelani is sophomore Mathematics/Secondary Education major from Lindenwold, New Jersey. This is her first year serving on the SCORE Executive Committee and she is eagerly looking forward to working with SCORE and participating in events. She aspires to be a high school principal or district superintendent after leaving the University of Maryland. Her hobbies include tennis, softball, theatre, and swimming. Noelani also works with America Counts, a mentoring program within Prince George County Public Schools.

Amber Liverpool graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High with the Academy of   Information Technology. She is attending the University of Maryland and  majoring in Computer Science and Spanish. This past summer she participated   in the Summer Bridge Program for Scientists and Engineers. She enjoys   reading, writing poetry, computers, fashion design and Spanish. She hopes to be a Spanish translator and Computer Scientist one day.

Amaka Achukwu just  graduated from North Carroll High School in Spring 2007. She is currently a freshman majoring in Computer Science at the University Of Maryland.  Among other things She  enjoys exploring new cultures that are different from her own and  also to likes to read, dance and generally have a good time.

Samuel Sesay

Samuel is a sophomore computer science major at the University of Maryland. He is a neophyte in the Beta Sigma Fraternity and is originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa.

 

 

 


Public Relations--Committee chairperson

Dave Rabrun

Dave is a senior computer science student at the University of Maryland.  This is his third semester as a member of score and his second semester as the Public Relations Chairperson. He is currently holding an internship at a research lab where he maintains and develops software for the Maryland, Virginia and District Of Columbia Transportation departments. His interests include travel (Foreign and Domestic), Science Fiction, independent film, and anything GIS related.

Joelle Davis Carter

Joelle Davis Carter is the Director for Diversity in the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Maryland College Park. She is responsible for increasing recruitment and retention of women and students of color in the math and science fields as well as raising funds through grant writing and fundraising to support students. In 2003, Joelle received the Exempt Staff Award for Minority Achievement from the President’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Issues. The Southern Association for College Student Affairs also honored her with the 2002 New Professional Award, which acknowledges the leadership and promise one demonstrates to the organization and to the field of higher education.
